Grayscale has purchased 60,000 Bitcoins in the last 100 days and has up to 343,594 BTCs

In the last 100 days, Grayscale has increased its holdings and purchased over 60,000 Bitcoins.

Grayscale’s multi-million dollar purchase would represent about 1/3 of all the Bitcoin produced during the period.

Given that 88% of Grayscale’s clients are institutional investors, it is considered an optimistic sentiment regarding the adoption of Bitcoin by commercial institutions.

Grayscale already has 343 thousand Bitcoins

The Reddit r/CryptoCurrency has been tracking the actions of the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) since 2017.

The report shows that Grayscale’s BTC holdings have increased from 283,192 Bitcoins to 343,594 Bitcoins recently.

According to the GBTC’s official website, on 15 May 2020, its assets under management were valued at approximately $3.3 billion.

„The increase of 60,000 bitcoins in the last 100 days represented 33-34% of all newly mined bitcoins during that period,“ the report says in Reddt.


Grayscale is one of the world’s largest crypto management funds and its flagship product is the GBTC, a Bitcoin market value based investment fund.

The transaction volume of 60,000 Bitcoins accumulated in only 100 days is very remarkable.

In this regard, it is assumed that Bitcoin’s halving played a key role in this important acquisition.

Thus, the data show that in the weeks leading up to Bitcoin Revolution, Bitcoin Billionaire, Bitcoin Storm, Bitcoin Formula, Bitcoin Champion halving, which began in late April, Grayscale’s Bitcoin holdings increased significantly.

Between December 2018 and December 2019, the number of Bitcoins in Grayscale Trust increased by only 30,000.

Later, Grayscale’s holdings of Bitcoins began to rise.

If a larger cut is made that covers the last ten months, from July 2019 to May 2020, the number of Bitcoins in the pool increased by 80,000 Bitcoins.

Grayscale’s Digital Asset Report for the first half of 2018 shows that 56% of clients are from institutional investors.

When the report was published in the first quarter of 2020, that number had increased to 88 percent.

In April of this year, it was reported that the Grayscale Ethereum Trust holds almost 50% of the Ethereum generated in 2020.
